Getting Started
Everything you need to know to begin your Sunrise Wonders journey.
Our online one-to-one Mandarin lessons are designed for children who are learning Mandarin as an additional language. We welcome complete beginners, children with some Mandarin exposure, and heritage learners who would like to strengthen their speaking confidence.
Each lesson is adapted to the child’s age, current level, interests and learning goals.
Our current online programs are delivered one-to-one. This allows the teacher to adjust the pace, language level and activities around each child, while giving the student plenty of opportunities to listen, respond and speak.
Any future group programs will be listed separately on our website.
Families may choose a 30-minute or 45-minute lesson plan, depending on the child’s age, attention span and learning goals.
Lessons may be scheduled once or twice per week. For most young learners, short and consistent lessons are more effective than occasional longer sessions.
Yes. Complete beginners are very welcome.
Our teachers use stories, pictures, gestures, repetition, songs and guided speaking activities to help children understand Mandarin without feeling overwhelmed. English may be used selectively when additional support is needed.
Lessons & Learning
Learn more about our teaching approach and online learning experience.
During the trial lesson, the teacher will observe your child’s listening comprehension, vocabulary, pronunciation, confidence and ability to respond in Mandarin.
We will then recommend a suitable starting level and learning plan. This is a relaxed classroom observation rather than a formal test.
Lessons may include picture books, PowerPoint activities, animation, songs, short videos, visual challenges and guided language games.
At present, the teacher asks the student questions and performs actions such as clicking, circling or dragging items on the screen according to the student’s spoken answer or instruction. This keeps the child actively thinking and responding, even when direct screen control is unavailable.
We also plan to introduce web-based learning games that students can interact with directly in the future.

Lessons are currently delivered through VooV Meeting, also known as Tencent Meeting, because it provides more reliable access for our international teachers and families in different regions.
Parents will receive the lesson link and joining instructions before class. If another platform is required, we will notify the family in advance.
For younger children, we recommend that a parent or responsible adult remain nearby, particularly during the first few lessons, to assist with joining the meeting or resolving technical issues.
Parents do not need to teach or answer for the child. Giving the student space to listen, think and respond independently helps the teacher understand their genuine progress.
Enrolment & Policies
Find answers about enrolment, payments and important policies.
The trial lesson gives your child an opportunity to meet the teacher and experience the Sunrise Wonders teaching style.
The teacher will introduce age-appropriate activities, observe your child’s current Mandarin level and identify how they respond best. After the lesson, we will recommend a suitable program and answer any questions before you decide whether to enrol.
A trial lesson does not automatically enrol your child in a 12-week program.
After the trial lesson, families may select a suitable 12-week Mandarin learning plan. The full program fee is paid at enrolment through our secure online checkout.
Payments are processed by Stripe. Depending on the family’s device and location, available options may include card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or Link. Sunrise Wonders does not store complete card numbers or card security codes.
A lesson may be rescheduled when at least 24 hours’ notice is provided, subject to teacher availability.
Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice are normally treated as a used lesson. Each 12-week enrolment includes up to two illness or genuine emergency exceptions.
Please refer to our Terms and Conditions for the complete cancellation, rescheduling and make-up lesson policy.
We do not routinely record ordinary one-to-one lessons.
After class, the teacher may provide key vocabulary, lesson text, exercises, homework, images, or short pronunciation and review audio. These materials are learning summaries and are not full lesson recordings.
We do not use or publish a child’s identifiable voice, image, work or lesson footage for marketing, social media, teacher training or other purposes without the parent’s or guardian’s prior express consent.
For further information, please read our Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions.
